Heather is excited to be back in her home town!
Heather Denham was born in Carson City, Nevada where she grew up taking dance lessons from Gina Kaskie Davis, owner and director of Western Nevada Performing Arts. She showed a strong interest in both costuming and choreography and was able to put all of her skills together--for the first time-- in her 2nd grade talent show.
Throughout her formative years, Heather continued to dance and preforms--adding cheerleading to her resume--before she graduated Carson High and eventually graduating at California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor's in Family Consumer Science with an emphasis on Fashion Design. Later, she was awarded a Masters degree in Fashion Design from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. After, she worked as a technical designer in the San Francisco fashion industry for ten years and taught upper level design at Art Institute.
In 2010, Heather started hula hooping, and began shifting her emphasis back to the dance and performance world. Now, Heather lives in Grants Pass, Oregon where she works as an yoga and pilates instructor specializing in instructing dancers and seniors. She creates custom costumes for her students, local dance studios, an a professional modern dance company in Ashland, Oregon.
Presently, she practices yoga, pilates, ballet, contemporary, pointe, acro-yoga, aerial apparatus, and flow arts with hoop, rope dart, and staff. Recently, she has performed with an aerial group, as a fire dancer, and was part of a volunteer circus that benefits refugees in Thailand.
